Marriage Prayer

Lord, bless our marriage with Your wisdom and guidance.
Help us above all to be kind to one another.
When life's daily challenges cause us concern,
remind us of our many blessings.

May we turn to You first in time of need,
for a cord of three strands is not easily broken.

If we have children, grant us patience and wisdom
to raise them in love and joy.
Help us to teach them the beauty of Your world.

May we reach out to those in need
with helping hands and generous hearts.
Fill our home with friends and laughter,
regardless of our material wealth.

Help us to grant one another freedom and trust
to explore our individual gifts ---
staying close enough to touch,
but with space enough to grow.

And as we change and learn and live,
may our love grow stronger and deeper
with each passing year.

Amen

I composed this prayer myself, and I also offer it in hand-lettered calligraphy and watercolors at my art website: http://members.aol.com/kshader I also will do a hand-lettered original (not a print) of this prayer and personalize it with the wedding couple's names and wedding date (unmatted) . If anyone would like to use the wording of this prayer in a not-for-profit manner -- say, printed on their wedding bulletin, etc. -- I have no objection to this with author's name listed. :)
