Rustin' Out On Rocket Road

Rotary Rocket's just about had,
A good idea with finances gone bad,
Successful test flights and taking costs down,
Won't bring the banker man to your side of town,.
Right now, $10k per pound,
That's what it's runnin' to get off the ground,
But these gentlemen had an idea real fine,
Drop it to a thousand and get 'em in line.
Problem is, it's all new science,
Or so they said before their silence,
No a thousand times a day,
Poor guys had taxes they just couldn't pay,
But the dues are really paid by us all,
'Cause it'll be a good bit longer 'fore we hit free fall.
Guess it's still the rich who play with stars.

Author's Comments

I was pretty depressed when I learned that one
of our best shots at near term low cost space
access was derailed by short sighted money men.
The Roton was an excellent idea, but I guess
too far ahead of it's time, or so the cliche' goes.
