My Pen, My Instrument

When I can't speak out
Or express how I feel
Whether it's because I'm too shy
Or can't face what you might say
I reach for my pen, my instrument
My tool to paint with words
My inner secrets, thought and feelings
When I'm longing to be heard
Sp please be gentle with your response
I'm sensitive to what you say
When I write these words for you to read
I'm in need of a friend today

oh hon... one, the poem is beautiful and often true for many writers I think. Two, soft gentle hugs for you if you want them ... warm thoughts and gentleness sent your way.

Oh yes ... a truth few of us utter out loud. So many times we just need to feel accepted and appreciated. Great job!

Janine, this is extremely beautiful! Straight from a gentle, longing heart! Well said!!

Poetry...like the soul, is never wrong with its expression. Just sometimes misunderstood or under appreciated. I'm glad this piece was traced beyond the words all the way back to your heart. Thank you for the gift of you and great job!

Janine,

You are a sensitive soul... so am I. This is so true, and said so well!

I love the end, but also this very much:

When I can't speak out
Or express how I feel
Whether it's because I'm too shy
Or can't face what you might say

YES!!! Boy, you guys sure make it hard on the judges!!! lol.... an impossible task sometimes!

Auh shucks girl, (said with head down and toe in the sand) you know we all like you here. Woody

When you have a good heart, and you put it into your work as you did here, well then Janine, that heart can't help but shine through. *S* Beautiful and sweet and a bit vulnerable, I think you touched on a place many of us come from at least some of the time. Hope you have better spirits soon!

Thanks John for choosing my poem as one of the winners for April. It's a lovely surprise and very much appreciated.

That's pretty damned good.

I imagine Melanie in those words.

Have you read any of her stuff?

This is a gripping piece, Janine.

I am a painter and can feel the emotion of baring parts of my soul to indefinite reviews.
